Overland Track in Tasmania, Australia

How about walking thru wilderness that is as prehistoric as you can get in the Overland Track in Australia? This trek takes around six days to cover and you will be able to cover 50 miles of the 80 miles of the path from Cradle Mountain to Lake St. Clair. The walking paths are well defined in some parts and you will pass thru rough and uneven terrain, beautiful lakes, moorlands, and forests.

Base Camp, Mount Everest in Nepal

This is a three-week journey to the base of the highest mountain in the world. It is not easy and it is not cheap to get to 18,193 feet of Mt. Everest. The air gets thinner and thinner and you will be amazed how the local Sherpa carrying your bags are able to do it at all while you are struggling to make a step. It will take some time to acclimatize and utmost care must be taken.

Routeburn Track in New Zealand

The word stunning might not be enough to describe the scenery in the Southern Alps in New Zealand. This will take hikers around three days to cover the track stretching 32 kilometers and thru national parks– Mt. Aspiring and the Fiordland. Anyone will appreciate the view of the waves from Conical Hill and the painting-like scenery from the Harris Saddle. The hike itself is actually easy but enlisting to do the hike is quite challenging since authorities limit the number of trekkers on the path as much as they can.

GR20 in France

This hike thru Corsica covers 168 kilometers and will take you about half a month. It is worth it though as you will be seeing a great array of landscapes probably no other paths can offer. There will be moonscapes, forests, glacial lakes, craters, peaks covered with snow, torrents, neves, peat bogs, and plains. You need to give the track your full attention though at some points since you will be dealing with slippery surfaces and unstable bridges at some point.

Pays Dogon in Mali

The dwelling place of the Dogons in Africa is among has the most breathtaking in the region. The hike will take around ten days and will take you thru very high cliffs and abandoned cliff settlements. The villages of the Dogon people mushroom on the cliffs and are the highlight of this experience. The Dogon people built their houses on the sides of the cliff-like rock formation and are also known for their intricately designed doors and stilt dancers wearing their traditional masks.

The Narrows in Zion National Park, USA

Trek through the canyons of the Zion National Park carved by nature over time. You will walk on the Virgin River which is the route you can only take for this journey. You will be wading through half of the 26-kilometer path, walking on most parts, and swimming at some points. You can complete the journey in a day but some hikers want to spend a night in one of the camping areas of the park and enjoy the natural springs and hanging gardens.
